Full Throttle & Council First Aid Meet

Full Throttle is a weekend event for troops. Scouts spend a half-day participating in program areas such as shooting sports, climbing, swimming, ziplining, and boating. Scouts will spend a half-day working on a merit badge.

Trail to Eagle Scout Camp

Super TroopMarch 12-14 & 15-18, 2026

Trail to Eagle Scout Camp is being held over spring break. Troops and individual Scouts who have been in a troop for at least one year can attend. The program provides opportunities for Scouts to earn Eagle-required merit badges along their advancement trail. 

Full Throttle & Venturing Challenge

Super TroopApril 17-19, 2026

Full Throttle is a weekend event for troops, crews, and ships. Scouts spend a half-day participating in program areas such as range and target activities and climbing. Scouts will spend a half-day working on a merit badge. Venturers can participate in special agent training, an orienteering challenge, deciphering clues, and an escape room.

Memories created during summer camp last a lifetime, whether Scouts are engaging in the popular first-year camper program, earning merit badges, or embarking on high-adventure experiences. If your unit has not been to Camp Strake in the past few years, come check out the amazing things happening! Space U Odyssey

Summer Camp

June 28-July 3 or July 12-17, 2026 

Space U Odyssey is a five-day, hands-on STEM experience for youth ages 11–17, inspired by real NASA missions that puts students in the role of NASA scientists, engineers, and astronauts. Space Center Houston is partnering with Scouting America, Sam Houston Area Council, for an immersive program that builds teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking through exciting space-themed challenges. 

 

Adventure Camp

Adventure Camp

Adventure Camp is a weekend campout at Bovay Scout Ranch for Cub Scouts and their families. Scouts can participate in an exciting variety of activities in several program areas and STEM-based activities. 

 

 

Range and Target Activities Training

RATAScouting America, in consultation with other organizations, has developed specific guidelines, training, and instructor certification for Scouts and Scouters who will serve in leadership or supervisory roles in various range and target activities. Register for upcoming range master, archery, and firearms training.

 

First Aid Training

The Scout Oath instills in youth that, “On my honor I will do my best … to help other people at all times.” Emergency care is no exception. CPR/AED, first aid, and wilderness first aid trainings are offered to help Scouting America volunteers and staff teach Scouts how to provide life-saving care in the event of an emergency. Register

 

COPE & Climbing Training

Baden PowellDuring climbing training, participants learn to teach Scouts how to climb and rappel. COPE uses mental and physical challenges, both above and below ground, to build confidence, self-esteem, trust, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.  

 

 

Wood Badge

Wood BadgeWood Badge is the ultimate leadership training designed to meet the advanced leadership needs of Scouters. Held over two weekends, participants can expect to develop skills in leadership theory, team building, problem-solving, communication, and project planning. Courses are held twice a year.

 

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)

NYLTNational Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is designed to provide Scouts in troops, crews, and ships with leadership skills and experiences they can use in their units and in other situations that demand leadership of self and others.

University of Scouting - Outdoor Adventure

UoSMay 1-3, 2026  |  Camp Strake

University of Scouting is a semi-annual supplemental training program. Sessions are led by experienced volunteers who will help leaders and parents enhance their ability to deliver a fun and exciting program to the Scouts. A variety of outdoor trainings are being held such as Climbing Level 1, COPE Level 1, NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO), Range Master and more.
