Flaming Arrow District Roundtable

November 20, 2025 |  7:00 pm

roundtableRoundtable is a district monthly meeting typically held the second Thursday of the month (except July) at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church (2929 Woodland Hills Drive, Kingwood 77339) at 7:00 pm to help unit leaders plan and carry out their own program. Roundtable is a form of supplemental training for volunteers. The objective of roundtable is to give leaders program ideas, information on upcoming events and trainings, and an opportunity to share experiences and enjoy fun and fellowship with other Scouting leaders. As a result of the roundtable experience, unit leaders will be inspired, motivated, informed, and able to provide a stronger program for their Scouts. Meet the Troops

November 20, 2025 | 6:45 - 8:00 pm

Meet the TroopsMeet the Troops allows youth to meet with troops, crews, and ships in the district. Scouts in 4th- and 5th-grade, Scouts BSA youth (ages 10-17), and their parents are invited. Troops and crews are invited to set up a display and meet prospective Scouts. Arrow of Light Scouts must make a decision that will impact their Scouting career: the choice of which troop to join. Arrow of Light Scouts are encouraged to visit several different troop meetings before selecting a troop to join.  The event is being held at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church (2929 Woodland Hills Drive, Kingwood 77339).

Campsgiving

November 23-25, 2025

Campsgiving, held during Thanksgiving break, is the turducken of camps for troops —an three-in-one experience combining a traditional camp (Turkey Camp), STEM Camp, and Mission Lone Star. Whether you're a Scout seeking merit badges, scientific discovery, or high-adventure thrills, there's something here for everyone.

Winter Camp

December 26-31, 2025

Winter camp is a wonderful opportunity for troops to camp and Scouts to earn merit badges and participate in fun evening program and activities There are over 80 merit badge classes taught by Scouters with real-life experiences in the field. Similar to summer camp, Super Troop is being added for individual Scouts.

Full Throttle

December 5-7, 2025

Full Throttle is a weekend event for troops. Scouts spend a half-day participating in program areas such as shooting sports, climbing, swimming, ziplining, and boating, and a half-day working on a merit badge.

Key Leader Conference

January 10, 2026

Key Leader's Conference is an annual meeting and orientation for all district committee members and commissioners. The training covers the basics of district operations and the district's role in supporting units and delivering the Scouting program. Participants will then have an opportunity to meet and interact with other district leaders during the committee breakout sessions.

University of Scouting

January 17, 2026

University of Scouting is a semi-annual supplemental training program. Sessions are led by experienced volunteers who will help leaders and parents enhance their ability to deliver a fun and exciting program to the Scouts.

Full Throttle

February 6-8, 2026

Full Throttle is a weekend event for Scouts in troops, crews, ships, and individual Scouts. Scouts participate in a program area such as range and target activities and climbing, participate in the first aid meet, and spend a half-day working on a merit badge.

The council First Aid Meet is being held during Full Throttle. This event challenges Scouts to perform first aid in simulated real-life situations. Teams compete in practical first-aid problems, demonstrating hands-on skills.

Range and Target Activities Training

Scouting America, in consultation with other organizations, has developed specific guidelines, training, and instructor certification for Scouts and Scouters who will serve in leadership or supervisory roles in various range and target activities. Cub Scout Range Master, USA Archery, and NRA courses are being offered.

First Aid Training

 

The Scout Oath instills in youth that, “On my honor I will do my best … to help other people at all times.” Emergency care is no exception. CPR/AED, first aid, and wilderness first aid trainings are offered to help Scouting America volunteers and staff members teach Scouts how to provide life-saving care in the event of an emergency.
