Flaming Arrow District Roundtable

roundtableRoundtable is a district monthly meeting typically held the second Thursday of the month (except July) at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church (2929 Woodland Hills Drive, Kingwood 77339) at 7:00 pm to help unit leaders plan and carry out their own program. Roundtable is a form of supplemental training for volunteers. The objective of roundtable is to give leaders program ideas, information on upcoming events and trainings, and an opportunity to share experiences and enjoy fun and fellowship with other Scouting leaders. As a result of the roundtable experience, unit leaders will be inspired, motivated, informed, and able to provide a stronger program for their Scouts. Camporee

May 2-4, 2025

CamporeeCamporee is a weekend campout for troops.  Patrols compete in various competitions and are judged on leadership, teamwork, skill demonstration, and Scout spirit.

Day CampGet ready for Cub Scout Day Camp 2024: Outdoor Adventure! Cub Scouts will explore a variety of Outdoor Adventures, learn new skills, and make new friends! Day Camp is open to Scout entering 1st grade - 5th grade next school year. Day camp is a week of fun with awesome programs and activities such as BB guns, archery, sports, STEM, games and crafts, rank advancements, Scout skills, fun, and more.

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills

May 2-3, 2025

trainingTraining is an important part of learning to become an effective leader. Trained leaders impact the quality of programs, leader tenure, youth tenure, and a whole lot more. A trained leader is better prepared to make the Scouting program all it can be! Every Scout deserves a trained leader. See the council training schedule for a list of additional trainings offered around the council. The training will be held during the camporee.

IOLS: Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (S11) Working as patrols, this hands-on course provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class rank.  Topics covered: • Campsite Selection • Ropes – Whipping, Tying, and Lashing • Wood Tools – Knife, Camp Saw, and Ax • Fire Site Preparation and Building • Cooking • First Aid • Plant and Animal Identification • Packing and Hiking Techniques • Map and Compass • Leave No Trace. The training encompasses a weekend.

Full Throttle

Full Throttle is a weekend event for troops. Scouts spend a half-day participating in program areas such as shooting sports, climbing, swimming, ziplining, and boating, and a half-day working on a merit badges related to essential Scouting skills.



University of Scouting

University of Scouting is a semi-annual supplemental training program. The spring event will focus on outdoor trainings to help leaders enhance their ability to deliver a fun and exciting program to the Scouts. Classes range from a half-day to the entire weekend. Courses offered: • Cub Scout Basic Training • New Cub Scout Program Updates • Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) • Climbing & COPE • BSA Lifeguard • Angler Education • Leave No Trace • Shooting Sports (Rifle, Shotgun & Range Master) • Trainer's EDGE

Summer Camp

Summer Camp is a week-long council-organized overnight camp for Scouts in troops that operates under council-retained leadership. There are unique programs for first-year Scouts and experienced Scouts. Summer camp is held at Camp Strake, a first-class and state-of-the-art facility for Scouts and their leaders. Program areas include shooting sports (rifle, shotgun, archery, sporting arrows), climbing, rappelling, boating (canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, rowing), swimming, ATV riding, ziplining, cycling, merit badge classes and more.
