Welcome to Sam Houston Area Council

The Sam Houston Area Council serves approximately 25,000 youth in 16 counties in Southeast Texas through dedicated service and leadership of approximately 10,000 adult volunteers. Scouting is completely funded by the generosity of those that believe in its mission.

Office Closed

The Cockrell Scout Center and the Scout Shops will be closed on President's Day. February 17, 2025

Full Throttle

Full Throttle is a weekend event for troops. Scouts can participate in program areas and work on a STEAM-related merit badge. February 14-16, 2025.

Adventure Camp

Adventure Camp is a weekend campout at Bovay Scout Ranch where Cub Scouts can explore the wonders of nature while participating in engaging activities designed to inspire environmental stewardship.

Summer Camp

Memories created at camp last a lifetime, whether Scouts are engaging in the popular first-year camper program, earning merit badges, or embarking on high adventure experiences. Learn More

Mission Lone Star

Mission Lone Star is a high adventure program for older Scouts attending summer camp. This exciting program includes a trip to NASA, ATV riding, zip lining, primitive camping on the Lone Star Trail, and more.

Trail to Eagle Scout

Trail to Eagle Scout is an opportunity for Scouts to earn Eagle-required merit badges along their advancement trail. March 8-10, 2025

Webelos Coyote Extreme

Webelos Coyote Trail Xtreme is a campout for 4^th-grade Webelos Scouts, featuring canoeing, skill-building, teamwork, learning essential Scouting skills, and working on adventures. May 9-10, 2025.

Camperships

The council is dedicated to ensuring all Scouts can attend camp. Campership aid aims to make attending camping programs possible for deserving Scouts who otherwise would not be able to meet the fee requirements.
