Raven logoThe Raven District serves Scouting units in Barbers Hill, Galena Park, Goose Creek CISD, Channelview, Crosby, and Sheldon school districts, and other schools around east Houston, Galena Park, Baytown, Crosby, Channelview, Sheldon, and the Mont Belvieu area. The Raven District is located in the Sam Houston Area Council.

Raven District Roundtable  

March 19, 2026   |   7:00 pm   

roundtableRoundtable is a district monthly meeting typically held on the second Thursday of the month (except February and July) at 7:00 pm at the Baytown Police Department (3200 North Main St., Baytown TX, 77521) to help unit leaders plan and carry out their own program. Roundtable is a form of supplemental training for volunteers. The objective of roundtable is to give leaders program ideas, information on events and training opportunities, and an opportunity to share experiences and enjoy fun and fellowship with other Scouting leaders. As a result of the roundtable experience, unit leaders will be inspired, motivated, informed, and able to provide a stronger program for their Scouts. Trail to Troop

March 20-22, 2026

Webelos WoodsTrail to Troop is a campout designed to introduce 4th and 5th-grade Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts to the many outdoor adventures of Scouting.  Scouts compete in competitions such as first aid, knot tying, fire building, teamwork, flag etiquette, and Scout spirit. The Saturday night campfire will include skits and songs.

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills

March 20 - 22, 2026

IOLSTraining is an important part of learning to become an effective leader. Trained leaders impact the quality of programs, leader tenure, youth tenure, and a whole lot more. A trained leader is better prepared to make the Scouting program all it can be! Every Scout deserves a trained leader. See the council training schedule for a list of additional trainings offered around the council. 

IOLS: Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (S11) Working as patrols, this hands-on course provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class rank.  Topics covered: • Campsite Selection • Ropes – Whipping, Tying, and Lashing • Wood Tools – Knife, Camp Saw, and Ax • Fire Site Preparation and Building • Cooking • First Aid • Plant and Animal Identification • Packing and Hiking Techniques • Map and Compass • Leave No Trace. The training encompasses a weekend. 

Scoutmaster Position-Specific Training (S24) is intended to provide troop leaders with the information and tools they need to lead successful troops and teaches practical ways to instill the Scouting methods into troop programs and covers the roles of the Scoutmasters and assistants in a Scout-led troop.

The training is being held during Trail to Troop.

Full Throttle

April 17-19, 2026

Full Throttle is a weekend event for troops, crews and ships. Scouts spend a half-day participating in program areas such as range and target activities, and a half-day working on a merit badge.  Venturers can participate in special agent training, an orienteering challenge, deciphering clues, and an escape room.

Summer Camp

Summer Camp is a week-long council-organized overnight camp for Scouts in troops that operates under council-retained leadership. There are unique programs for first-year Scouts and experienced Scouts. Summer camp is held at Camp Strake, a first-class and state-of-the-art facility for Scouts and their leaders. Program areas include shooting sports (rifle, shotgun, archery, sporting arrows), climbing, rappelling, boating (canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, rowing), swimming, ATV riding, ziplining, cycling, merit badge classes and more.

Mission Lone Star

Mission Lone Star is the new high adventure program for older Scouts (14+) during summer camp. This exciting program includes a trip to NASA + travel, Train Like an Astronaut Program or Underwater Helicopter Rescue Program, ATV riding, Ziplining, High ropes course, COPE, Climbing, Shooting sports, Aquatics, and primitive camping on the Lone Star Trail.

June 28-July 3 or July 12-17, 2026

Space U Odyssey is a five-day, hands-on STEM experience inspired by real NASA missions that puts students in the role of NASA scientists, engineers, and astronauts.
