Camp Strake is a premier, state-of-the-art camp nestled in a rural area near the Sam Houston National Forest, close to Evergreen.

Designed to provide a modern Scouting experience for both Scouts and their leaders, the camp offers transformative outdoor adventures aimed at equipping young people with essential leadership skills.

Spanning 2,816 acres, Camp Strake is bordered on three sides by the Sam Houston National Forest and features the Lone Star Hiking Trail near one corner of the property. Map

Unique Partnerships

Camp Strake is a premier destination offering unique experiences not found at other camps nationwide.

As the only council in Scouting America with a Space Act Agreement with NASA, Camp Strake offers exclusive programs such as Strake Odyssey, the NASA Stars & STEM Program, the Train Like an Astronaut Program (SCUBA), and Helicopter Underwater Egress Training (HUET).

Additionally, a partnership with the United States Forest Service provides direct access to the Lone Star Trail, the longest hiking trail in Texas, right from Camp Strake.

Summer Camp

Summer camp is a week-long council-organized overnight camp that provides opportunities for Scouts to earn merit badges along their advancement trail.

 

Winter Camp

Winter camp is a wonderful opportunity for Scouts to earn merit badges taught by experienced adults.

STEM Camp

STEM Camp is an extraordinary opportunity for Scouts to work on up to four STEM-related merit badges and participate in a special NASA Stars & STEM program.

Camp Odyssey

Embark on an extraordinary journey at the space-focused camp, Strake Odyssey. Dive into the wonders of astronomy, rocketry, and cosmic exploration, igniting young minds with hands-on activities and captivating simulations that bring the universe to life. 

ATV Experience

The ATV Experience allows Scouts to explore the trails while learning to drive the crème de la crème of ATV equipment. 

Full Throttle

Full Throttle is an opportunity for Scouts to spend a half-day participating in program areas such and take a merit badge class.

 

Weekend Camping

Troops, crews and ships can reserve campsites and program areas for weekend camping.

Trail to Eagle Camp

Trail to Eagle is an opportunity for Scouts to earn Eagle-required merit badges along their advancement trail.
