Iron Horse District Roundtable

February 12, 2026 | 7:00 pm

roundtableRoundtable is a district monthly meeting typically held the second Thursday of the month at the Bammel Church of Christ (2700 Cypress Creek Pkwy, Houston, TX 77068) at 7:00 pm to help unit leaders plan and carry out their own program. Roundtable is a form of supplemental training for volunteers. The objective of roundtable is to give leaders program ideas; information on policy, events, and training opportunities; and an opportunity to share experiences and enjoy fun and fellowship with other Scouting leaders. As a result of the roundtable experience, unit leaders will be inspired, motivated, informed, and able to provide a stronger program for their Scouts.

Camporee

February 27 - March 1, 2026

Camporee

Camporee is a weekend campout for troops full of competition to test Scouting skills. Patrols compete in various competitions, where they are judged on leadership, teamwork, skill demonstration, and Scout spirit. The Iron Horse District's Order of the Arrow chapter will be hosting a camporee.

Every unit needs to RSVP by the January roundtable to inform the event staff of your attendance.

Recognition EventThe Recognition Event is an opportunity for a night of fellowship and great food as we acknowledge and thank our adult volunteers for the hard work and dedication that made this year incredibly successful. Iron Horse District’s outstanding leaders at the unit and district levels will also be recognized. All volunteers in Iron Horse District are invited.

Pushmobile

PushmobileA pushmobile is a Cub Scout-powered go-cart. Cub Scout dens make their own pushmobile. Cub Scouts work together as a team to push their pushmobile through the course to the finish line at this annual district event.

June 8-12, 2026

Day Camp

Step back in time and explore the world of the dinosaurs! Cub Scouts will learn all about these incredible creatures that once ruled the Earth, make new friends, and participate in awesome programs and activities, including BB guns, archery, sports, STEM, games, crafts, rank advancements, Scout skills, and more.  Perfect for young paleontologists (Cub Scouts entering 1st grade - 5th grade next school year).

Full Throttle

April 17-19, 2026

Full Throttle is a weekend event for troops, crews and ships. Scouts spend a half-day participating in program areas such as range and target activities, and a half-day working on a merit badge.  Venturers can participate in special agent training, an orienteering challenge, deciphering clues, and an escape room.

February 6-8, 2026

Full Throttle is a weekend event for Scouts in troops, crews, ships, and individual Scouts. Scouts participate in a program area such as range and target activities and climbing, participate in the first aid meet, and spend a half-day working on a merit badge.

The council First Aid Meet is being held during Full Throttle. This event challenges Scouts to perform first aid in simulated real-life situations. Teams compete in practical first-aid problems, demonstrating hands-on skills.

Summer Camp

Summer Camp is a week-long council-organized overnight camp for Scouts in troops that operates under council-retained leadership. There are unique programs for first-year Scouts and experienced Scouts. Summer camp is held at Camp Strake, a first-class and state-of-the-art facility for Scouts and their leaders. Program areas include shooting sports (rifle, shotgun, archery, sporting arrows), climbing, rappelling, boating (canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, rowing), swimming, ATV riding, ziplining, cycling, merit badge classes and more.

Mission Lone Star

Mission Lone Star is the new high adventure program for older Scouts (14+) during summer camp. This exciting program includes a trip to NASA + travel, Train Like an Astronaut Program or Underwater Helicopter Rescue Program, ATV riding, Ziplining, High ropes course, COPE, Climbing, Shooting sports, Aquatics, and primitive camping on the Lone Star Trail.
