Iron Horse District Roundtable

November 13, 2025 | 7:00 pm

roundtableRoundtable is a district monthly meeting typically held the second Thursday of the month at the Bammel Church of Christ (2700 Cypress Creek Pkwy, Houston, TX 77068) at 7:00 pm to help unit leaders plan and carry out their own program. Roundtable is a form of supplemental training for volunteers. The objective of roundtable is to give leaders program ideas; information on policy, events, and training opportunities; and an opportunity to share experiences and enjoy fun and fellowship with other Scouting leaders. As a result of the roundtable experience, unit leaders will be inspired, motivated, informed, and able to provide a stronger program for their Scouts.

Trail to Troop

November 14-16, 2025

Webelos Woods

Trail to Troop is a campout designed to introduce 4th- and 5th-grade Scouts to the numerous outdoor adventures that Scouting has to offer. This fantastic weekend event includes patrol-method camping and Scout activities. On Saturday morning, Webelos dens compete in Scouting competitions, and during the afternoon, local troops teach basic Scouting skills. Find area troops at shacbsa.org/join-troop

Iron Horse Rocket Day

December 6, 2025 | 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Rocket DayRocket Day is a free, fun-filled event for Scouts of all ages (kindergarten to age 17) and families in Klein ISD and Spring ISD. Youth interested in joining Scouts may also attend; volunteers will help you find a pack near you and get signed up for Scouting.

Camporee

February 27 - March 1, 2026

Camporee

Camporee is a weekend campout for troops full of competition to test Scouting skills. Patrols compete in various competitions, where they are judged on leadership, teamwork, skill demonstration, and Scout spirit. The Iron Horse District's Order of the Arrow chapter will be hosting a camporee.

Recognition EventThe Recognition Event is an opportunity for a night of fellowship and great food as we acknowledge and thank our adult volunteers for the hard work and dedication that made this year incredibly successful. Pushmobile

PushmobileA pushmobile is a Cub Scout-powered go-cart. Cub Scout dens make their own pushmobile. Cub Scouts work together as a team to push their pushmobile through the course to the finish line at this annual district event.

Step back in time and explore the world of the dinosaurs! Cub Scouts will learn all about these incredible creatures that once ruled the Earth, make new friends, and participate in awesome programs and activities, including BB guns, archery, sports, STEM, games, crafts, rank advancements, Scout skills, and more.  Perfect for young paleontologists (Cub Scouts entering 1st grade - 5th grade next school year).

Campsgiving

Campsgiving, held during Thanksgiving break, is the turducken of camps for troops —an all-in-one experience combining a traditional camp (Turkey Camp), STEM Camp, and Mission Lone Star. Whether you're a Scout seeking merit badges, scientific discovery, or high-adventure thrills, there's something here for everyone.

Winter Camp

December 26-31, 2025

Winter camp is a wonderful opportunity for troops to camp and Scouts to earn merit badges and participate in fun evening program and activities There are over 80 merit badge classes taught by Scouters with real-life experiences in the field. Similar to summer camp, Super Troop is being added for individual Scouts.

NYLT

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is an exciting, action-packed six-day council-level program designed to provide Scouts in troops, crews, and ships with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home units and other situations demanding leadership of self and others.

Full Throttle

December 5-7, 2025

Full Throttle is a weekend event for troops. Scouts spend a half-day participating in program areas such as shooting sports, climbing, swimming, ziplining, and boating, and a half-day working on a merit badges related to essential Scouting skills.



Range and Target Activities Training

Scouting America, in consultation with other organizations, has developed specific guidelines, training, and instructor certification for Scouts and Scouters who will serve in leadership or supervisory roles in various range and target activities. Cub Scout Range Master, USA Archery, and NRA courses are being offered.

First Aid Training

 

The Scout Oath instills in youth that, “On my honor I will do my best … to help other people at all times.” Emergency care is no exception. CPR/AED, first aid, and wilderness first aid trainings are offered to help Scouting America volunteers and staff members teach Scouts how to provide life-saving care in the event of an emergency.
