Principal Visit

Why Principal Support Matters

Developing a strong relationship with your local elementary school principal goes far beyond booking a room for meetings. Administrators are essential allies for:

  • Recruitment: Gaining approval to send flyers home, present in classrooms, and post yard signs.
  • Space Access: Securing consistent, free, or low-cost locations (like the cafeteria) for den and pack meetings.
  • Community Alignment: Demonstrating how Scouting’s educational values and character building align with the school's goals.

How to Prepare

Before scheduling a visit, make sure your approach is organized and professional:

  1. Coordinate: Check with the district executive to ensure your visit aligns with the district's overall school night plan.
  2. Review your materials: Bring a copy of your annual calendar and a token of appreciation (available from the district executive) to thank the principal for taking the time to meet with you.
  3. Bring data: Be ready to share how Cub Scouts helps improve grades and study habits, and list the community and school service projects (like campus cleanups) your pack can offer the school.
