The Sam Houston Area Council serves approximately 25,000 youth in 16 counties in Southeast Texas through dedicated service and leadership of approximately 10,000 adult volunteers. Scouting is completely funded by the generosity of those that believe in its mission.

Rocket Day

Youth who join Cub Scouts this year will receive a rocket that they can design, build, and launch at Rocket Day.

Scout Shops

Stop by one of our local Scout Shops to get your Scouting supplies. There are three area locations: Houston, Stafford, and Champions 1960.

Jamboree

The National Jamboree is Scouting’s flagship event for Scouts aged 12 and older, showcasing everything great about Scouting in America. An online information session is being held to provide an opportunity to learn more about this exciting opportunity. September 16, 17, 18, 2025.

Angler Classic

Scouts in troops, crews and ships are invited to the Angler Classic, the ultimate fishing derby hosted at the breathtaking Camp Strake! September 25, 2025.

Merit Badge Day

Merit Badge Days are an opportunity for Scouts in troops, crews or ships to work on requirements for one or more merit badges. October 4, 2025

Let the Adventure Begin

Let the Adventure Begin is an overnight campout for newly registered Cub Scouts and their adult partner and families at Bovay Scout Ranch. Scouts can participate in archery, slingshots, crafts, rockets, sports, campfire, and more. October 4-5, 2025.

Full Throttle

Full Throttle is a weekend event for troops. Scouts spend a half-day participating in program areas such as range and target activities, and climbing, and a half-day working on a merit badge. October 3-5, 2025

Adventure Camp

Adventure Camp is a weekend campout at Bovay Scout Ranch for Cub Scouts and their families. Scouts can participate in an exciting variety of activities at several program areas and STEM-based activities.

Arrow of Light Advancement Day

Arrow of Light Advancement Day is an opportunity for Arrow of Light Scouts in 5^th grade to earn advancements and prepare for the next Scouting journey, Scouts BSA. November 7-9, 2025.

Campsgiving

Campsgiving includes traditional camp (Turkey Camp), STEM Camp, and Mission Lone Star. Whether you're a Scout seeking merit badges, scientific discovery, or high-adventure thrills, there's something here for everyone. November 22-25, 2025

Winter Camp

Winter camp is an excellent opportunity for troops to camp and Scouts to earn merit badges. Merit badge classes are taught by Scouters with real-life experiences in the field. December 26-31, 2025
