Welcome to Sam Houston Area Council

The Sam Houston Area Council serves approximately 25,000 youth in 16 counties in Southeast Texas through dedicated service and leadership of approximately 10,000 adult volunteers. Scouting is completely funded by the generosity of those that believe in its mission.

University of Scouting is a semi-annual supplemental training program. Sessions are led by experienced volunteers who will help leaders and parents enhance their ability to deliver a fun and exciting program to the Scouts. January 17, 2026.

Full Throttle

The council First Aid Meet, an event that challenges Scouts to perform first aid in simulated real-life situations, is being held during Full Throttle this year. Scouts will participate in a first-aid competition, participate in a program area such as range and target activities or climbing, and work on a merit badge. February 6-8, 2026.

Scouting for Food

Scouting for Food

Scouting for Food, a council-wide service project to care for people in our local communities who are hungry, begins January 24, 2026, as Scouts distribute door hangers. Scouts return January 31, 2026, to pick up and deliver donations.

Adventure Camp is a weekend campout at Bovay Scout Ranch for Cub Scouts and their families. Scouts can participate in an exciting variety of activities at several program areas and STEM-based activities.
