Seabadge

September 6-7 & 13-14, 2025

SeabadgeSeabadge is a leadership and management training focused on the “how-to” aspects of managing a successful youth-led Sea Scout program. While Seabadge was developed as an advanced leadership training program for experienced Sea Scout adult leaders, the course is open to anyone at least 18 years old, registered in any capacity, either youth or adult, in Scouting America.  The driving theme for the training is to “Focus on Youth”, which makes the course especially valuable for any Scout leader dealing with older youth.  Seabadge does not cover topics like boating, knots, or other program-related materials found in the Sea Scout Manual.

The course will be delivered virtually via Zoom over two weekends and will consist of two phases with seminars, workshops, role-playing, discussions, and activities, and a project developed during the course. Crew meetings will be held prior to the course.

Swim Tests

Swim TestThe Sea Scouts are helping troops and Scouts prepare for summer camps by conducting swim tests at various locations around the council in April and May.

Scouting recognizes three basic swimming classifications: swimmer, beginner, and non-swimmer. The swimmer test demonstrates the minimum level of swimming ability required for safe deepwater swimming. The various components of the test evaluate several distinct, essential skills necessary for safety in the water.

Swim classification tests should be renewed annually, preferably at the beginning of the season.
