Texas Skies District Roundtable

October 10, 2024  |  7:00 - 8:30 pm

roundtableRoundtable is a district monthly meeting typically held the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm at Houston Community College in room 101 A/B ( 22910 Colonial Parkway, Katy, TX 77449) to help unit leaders plan and carry out their own program.  Roundtable is a form of supplemental training for volunteers. The objective of roundtable is to give leaders program ideas, information on events and training opportunities, and an opportunity to share experiences and enjoy fun and fellowship with other Scouting leaders. As a result of the roundtable experience, unit leaders will be inspired, motivated, informed, and able to provide a stronger program for their Scouts. Cuboree

October 25-27, 2024

cuboreeCuboree is a weekend campout for Cub Scouts and their families. Let the games begin! Test out your Scout skills in this weekend event for Cub Scouts (kindergarten through 5th grade) and their families to kick off the Scouting year. Lions, Tigers, Wolves, Bears, and Webelos Scouts and their families can camp with their pack for the weekend or just attend the Saturday activities.

Packs will be assigned a campsite. After the opening flag ceremony on Saturday morning, the Cub Scouts will rotate as a pack through stations completing fun and wacky team-building activities as part of carnival games! Each pack will compete to earn points with awards being given at the campfire. Packs are encouraged to practice their favorite skit or song to perform at the campfire on Saturday evening.

Rocket Day

Rocket DayYouth who join Cub Scouts this year will receive a rocket that they can design and build at home. Youth in kindergarten through fifth grade who are interested in joining Scouting may also attend. We will help you find a pack near you and get signed up for Scouting.

Trail to Troop

January 17-19, 2025

Webelos WoodsTrail to Troop is a weekend event designed to introduce Scouts (4th and 5th grade) and their family to some of the exciting adventures of Scouts BSA. The event is filled with fun activities, intriguing demonstrations, and plenty of outdoor excitement. The purpose of Trail to Troop is to showcase the Scout tenants of a youth-led troop. Parents can learn about the transition to Scouts BSA.

STEM Camp

STEM Camp is a new extraordinary opportunity for Scouts in troops, crews, and ships to work on STEM-related merit badges and Nova awards. Scouts can engage in hands-on learning and explore exhilarating STEM programs, exhibits, and activities. If a Scout wants to learn more about science, technology, engineering, or mathematics, then this is the week to be at camp! There will also be a Super Troop for individual Scouts to attend.

University of Scouting

University of Scouting is a semi-annual supplemental training program. Sessions are led by experienced volunteers who will help leaders and parents enhance their ability to deliver a fun and exciting program to the Scouts. Scouts in troops can take Den Chief and Troop Guide Training or merit badge classes.

Arrow of Light Advancement Day

Arrow of Light Advancement Day is an event for 5th-grade Arrow of Light Scouts at Bovay Scout Ranch. During this fast-paced, fun-filled weekend Webelos Scouts learn skills they will need for their first camp out with a troop. Scouts will work in patrols to participate in a variety of activities, including leather belt making, patrol challenges, pioneering projects, cooking, and low-cope team-building activities.
