Advancement is an important part of the Sea Scout experience. These experiences help Sea Scouts to set realistic goals to achieve rank, accomplish projects, and gain knowledge and understanding of the world around them. There are many opportunities for advancement in Sea Scouts. Included are the trails to Eagle and Quartermaster. Each of these trails is a highlight experience, but each requires the Sea Scout to set their own goals and follow through to achievement. The requirements for advancement were designed by Sea Scout youth to establish standards of performance for all Sea Scouts.
Quartermaster Board of Review Process
After the council office has approved your application, a Board of Review must be scheduled.
- Contact the council Quartermaster Board Coordinator, a volunteer who has been charged with coordinating Quartermaster Boards of Review, ensuring that the National standards are met as well as the proper process followed. The current council Quartermaster board coordinator is Bill Berry. He may be contacted at (832) 792-8500 or wmberryjr@outlook.com.
- After discussing preferred timing and location, the council Quartermaster board of review coordinator will contact someone from the approved list to serve as the council representative and chair of the board of review.
- The selected council representative will contact the appropriate youth in the ship and will work with the youth in setting up the Board of Review.
