The council, in coordination with the National BSA marketing committee, is setting up Facebook events for pack join night events. The pack's join night Facebook calendar event will be advertised using geofencing, or location-based marketing where a geographic boundary is set around an address (e.g., a 3-mile radius around the pack's school for two weeks before the event). The join-night event can be a virtual event or an in-person event.
How to Do a Geofence
New Join webpage
Units are encouraged to promote our new texting feature (text Cub Scouts to 833-301-1301). Parents will receive a response encouraging them to visit shacbsa.org/join. Parents can easily find units in their school district and then click to join online and complete an online application.
Is your unit information correct? Make sure your pack's information is correct on the shacbsa.org/join page. Send corrections to your district executive.
BeAScout.Org Pin
BeAScout.org is a National BSA website with a resource to help prospective families easily find units to join using their zip code. BeAScout.org has a Google pin for every unit.
Is your unit information up to date? Unit leaders can update the unit information to make it easy for new Scouting families to find your unit by logging into myscouting.org. Find a complete set of step-by-step instructions on how to update your BeAScout pin in this guide, and/or watch this “Setting Up Your BeAScout Unit Pin” instructional video.
It is suggested that the feeder school(s) and/or church is included in the description and pack meeting nights. If your unit does not have a website, refer them to the district or council website.
