Weekend Camping at Camp Brosig

Camp Brosig is a 92-acre property located four miles north of Sealy, TX in Austin County (1893 Trenchman Road, Sealy, TX 77474). Camp Brosig has 20 campsites, pavilions, and restrooms for weekend camping. Refer to the Brosig Plant Identification Key for the plants/trees tagged at Camp Brosig to work with the Scouts on nature requirements. What are the directions to Camp Brosig?

Camp Brosig is a 92-acre property, located six miles north of Sealy, TX, in Austin County. 

Address: 1893 Trenchman Road, Sealy, TX 77474 

From Houston: Take I-10 to Sealy Texas, exit at State Highway 36 this is a hairpin loop exit. You pass over highway 36 on I-10 before you exit so you come into Hwy 36 from the west. From the first red light after exiting at Highway 36 turn left (north) onto Highway 36. Go thru town for approximately 5.1 miles until you pass the intersection of Farm Road 331. Christian City Church is on the left, soon after is Trenchman Road on the left. Go 1.6 miles on Trenchman Road to Camp Brosig. The camp gate is on the left (south) side of the road. Main asphalt road will take you to the check-in building, the first building on your left. Approximate time from Houston one hour.

From Hempstead/Bellville: Take FM 159 from Hempstead to Bellville. After crossing the railroad tracks in Bellville take an immediate left at the first light on to State Highway 36 continue for approximately 6 miles to Farm Road 949. Turn right onto Farm Road 949 and follow this road to the first road to the left. This will be Trenchman Road and the camp gate entrance will be approximately ½ mile on your right. The camp gate is on the right (south) side of road. Main asphalt road will take you to the check-in building, the first building on your left.  Approximate time from Hempstead 30 minutes.

Weekend Camping at Tellepsen Scout Camp
for troops, crews & ships (not packs)

TellepsenTellepsen Scout Camp is located at Bovay Scout Ranch (3450 County Road 317, Navasota, TX 77868) and has eight campsites that accommodate 50 individuals per site. Each campsite has a 30' x 40' pavilion with electricity. One shower and restroom facility will be available for every two campsites. Tellepsen Scout Camp has the council's largest rifle range and a 41-foot climbing tower. The rifle range consists of four 50-yard high-powered rifle stations, four 100-yard high-powered rifle stations, a five-stand shotgun range, eight stations for .22 rifles and pistols and an archery range. The climbing tower has two rappelling stations per side of 11 feet, 22 feet, 32 feet, and 41 feet. Districts can reserve the Duke Energy Camporee site or Tellepsen Scout Camp for district events through the district professional.

Fishing   Catch and release fishing is allowed camp. Bring your own equipment. Fishing licenses are not required.  
Duke Energy Camporee Site   The camporee site is a 100-acre primitive area nestled between rolling hills and prairies. Districts can reserve the camporee site through their district professional.

Weekend Camping at Camp Strake
for troops, crews, & ships (not packs)

Camp Strake, a first-class and state-of-the-art facility, is located at 2020 Camp Strake Rd, Coldspring, TX 77331. Camp Strake has 20 campsites, shooting ranges (rifle, shotgun, archery), a 28-acre lake, aquatics center with a swimming pool, extensive trail system, nature trail, climbing tower and more.

Camp Strake is designed for older youth (troops, crews, ships). No Packs are allowed at Camp Strake.

Camp Strake Reservations

Campsites and program areas are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis to only troops, crews and ships. (Learn more about pack Cub Scout camping options.) All fees must be paid online at least five days before the reservation.

A deposit of 50% is required for most facilities and full payment is due 14 days before the date of the reservation. Reservations close Monday each week so make any final adjustments to the reservation one week prior to the reservation. For participants who are not camping, add a day usage fee to the reservation.

Fishing     Catch and release fishing is allowed camp. Bring your own equipment. Fishing licenses are not required.  
Nature Trails / Pollinator Gardens   There are nature trails marked with trees and 3 native plant pollinator gardens to work on plant identification and various merit badges.  
Staff huts   $20/bed/night For special events and long-term camps. Staff huts sleep four people per hut. Huts have a/c, fan, electricity, two bunk beds, and a small hanging area. Pillows and linens are not included.
